Finding Contractors
SeasonKeep helps you find qualified contractors near your home when you need professional help with a maintenance task. Our contractor directory is powered by Google Places and enhanced with community reviews.
Searching for Contractors
To find a contractor:
- Go to the Contractors section from the sidebar
- Select the service type you need (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electrical)
- Adjust the search radius if needed (default is 25 miles from your home's zip code)
- Browse the results, which show business name, rating, distance, and services offered
You can also find contractors directly from a task. When viewing a task detail, look for the Find a Contractor link — it pre-fills the search with the relevant service type for that specific task.
Understanding Search Results
Each contractor listing shows:
- Business name and address — Pulled from Google Places data
- Rating — The average rating from Google reviews
- Distance — How far the contractor is from your home
- Service types — What kinds of work they handle
- Verification status — Whether SeasonKeep has verified their license (where available)
Results are sorted by a combination of rating, distance, and relevance to give you the best matches first.
Saving Favorites
Found a contractor you like? Click the heart icon to save them to your favorites list. Saved contractors appear in a dedicated Saved tab in the Contractors section, making them easy to find when you need them again.
Reviews
SeasonKeep displays Google Places reviews for each contractor. Over time, as more SeasonKeep users hire contractors, community reviews will also appear alongside Google ratings to give you a fuller picture.
To leave a review after hiring a contractor through SeasonKeep:
- Mark the related task as complete and select Hired Contractor
- You'll be prompted to rate the contractor and write a brief review
- Reviews go through a short moderation process before appearing publicly
Contextual Suggestions
When you view a task that typically requires professional help (tasks rated "Hard" or "Professional Only"), SeasonKeep suggests relevant contractors automatically. These suggestions are based on the task's service category and your home's location — no searching required.
Plan Requirements
Contractor search is a Home Plan+ feature. Free plan users can view basic task details but cannot search the contractor directory or save favorites. Upgrade to Home Plan or above to access the full contractor experience.
